Incredible performance for low cost
By Invertalon
This lens is made by the Korean company Samyang and is identical to the Rokinon, Bower, Pro Optic and many other licensed names. Same identical lens with a different name stamped on it. For whatever reason, this one happens to be the cheapest "brand" you can buy. Don't worry, it is identical to the other names costing $100 more in every single way.The lens I received was in fact, the newer UMC version of the lens with the updated coatings, as marked on the lens itself. And contrary to the title of the lens, is NOT a fisheye lens. It is a full-frame compatible, 14mm rectilinear lens with incredible performance. Wide open at f/2.8, the corners and edges on this lens surpass my 17-40L lens stopped down to f/11... The performance is THAT good. I have never seen an UWA with such good edge performance. In fact, the sharpness of this lens surpasses the performance of Canon's $2000+ 14mm f/2.8 II lens in many tests posted online measuring the resolution of these lenses. Flare control is quite good and colors and contrast are very good. Little to no CA at all. Micro-contrast is excellent.Build quality is surprisingly good for a lens this cheap. It rivals many of Canon's EF-s built lenses and similar to many of Sigma's offerings as well. Focus ring is smooth and well dampened. Long throw for more precise focusing, if not a little too long. Front cap secures well and protects the bulbous front element when not in use.A few negatives include the fact it is 100% manual focus... And for some reason, Samyang has trouble calibrating the focus ring and is a common trait among these lenses. Infinity focus is more like 2m, for example. Once you learn how to adjust, is not a big deal. Especially if you use hyperfocal values. For a lens this wide, the depth of field is very forgiving. This is the only reason I rate this lens 4-Star and not five. If Samyang can fix the focus scale issue, it would be 5-Star.Overall, this lens is really an amazing value if you can deal with manual focus and a slight learn curve in regards to the focus scale being off a bit. Samyang could double the price of this lens and easily do well, in my opinion. For $300 though, you can't beat it. Save your money and buy this Bell and Howell version over some of the more "pricey" names, such as Rokinon which is generally $100 more. It is the SAME identical lens. Why pay more just for a different name printed on the lens?

awesome lens
By law
This lens does what it's suppose to. Took it on a trip through the Grand Canyon, Bryce canyon and Antelope canyon. The pictures came out just like I wanted them to. Now i'm waiting for a new dome for my water housing for my surf photography business. The pitures don't have any vignetting!

Unbelievable lens for the money!
By Robbie Bobagov
This is the Samyang 14mm lens, rebranded by Bell and Howell. Unbelievably sharp on my full frame camera with almost no chromatic aberration; it easily beats out my much more expensive Canon 16-35 mm f2.8 II L lens. However, plan on some post-processing to reduce barrel distortion, and plan to focus using either your own distance scale taped to the lens (to replace the incorrect distances etched on the lens) or by using live view. While this is a great lens for landscapes, irregularities in the barrel distortion, fixable in some software packages, may cause headaches for critical architectural applications.
