Amazing Anonynous Gem

The posted name is confusing. This 2-element lens is evidently not made by Sony or Zeiss. It's not clear why there's no trace of a logo or its origin. In fact, it's anonymous. But it's really amazing, more like a piece of crystal. I put the fine srew on top of my 16-80mm lens (on a Sony Alpha 33) & tried it for two days. Not surprisingly, the automatic aperture option does'nt work. So I tried f16 & f18, as aperture priority. The automatic focusing worked fine, as usual, both under natural & artificial light. There's no noticeable distortion or diminished resolution, light or color, compared with the 16-80mm lens without the close-up. In a nutshell, thie close-up lens works very well for my purposes. It's cetainly not a macro lens, which would cost me much, much more. Tomorrow I'm going out to record the fine details of flowers on the hills, without bothering to change lenses in the open air. I could post 5 images with this lens : the orchid & tulip flowers. All were taken under natural light. Only slight cropping ( & no color or light correction ) was done on Picasa.
