An essential addition to the videographer's kit!

I have the Panasonic TM900 High Definition Camcorder and needed conversion lenses that would help me get better shots of my daughter's events such as her plays and field hockey games. For her plays I would normally set up in the back of the auditorium so that my view would not be obstructed, I would get a view of the entire event, and at the same time stay out of everyone else's line of sight. However, in order to get close-ups from that distance I would need to sometimes go past the optical zoom and into the digital range which, of course, caused degradation of the image. For her field hockey games (or the local high school football games) my preference would be to set up in the opposing team's bleachers. From there I could get both wide master shots of the field, zoom in for close-ups of the faces of the home crowd, and also zoom in to follow the action on the field. However, I had the same dilemma; I would normally need to kick on the digital zoom which degraded my image. With the 3.6x telephoto lens (which was the highest magnification I could find to fit my camcorder filter thread size), I will be able to get the sharp close-ups I need at the distance where I normally shoot from. The lens package comes with several adapter rings, one of the rings being 46mm which fit my camcorder perfectly. It also comes with lens caps for both ends of the lens in addition to a drawstring protective pouch. The all metal construction gives a quality feel and gives your camcorder a more professional look. I also purchased a collapsible rubber lens hood which is not only functional, but adds to the professional appearance. I've tested the lens to see its limitations by focusing in on a subject without the lens, then installing the lens and viewing the same subject, and there is a significant difference in magnification. It works very well. When you first put the lens and zoom all the way out, you will notice a small viewing diameter surrounded by all black (vignetting). Just slowly zoom in until the black background disappears and you are good to go. (This goes for the wide-angle lens also). The telephoto lens was so good that I couldn't even test it out inside my home office (nothing came into focus). I had to go outside and focus in on something across the street before it would focus. A bonus with the telephoto lens is that that it came with a macro lens attached. I tested it and it works perfectly when you get between 1 and 8inches from a subject to be studied and zoom in for detail (such as flowers, coins, or insects). The wide angle lens that comes in this package also is very useful also. I use this to get a less claustrophobic look when I'm filming in smaller spaces like inside the house. I've tested it and it not only increases the field of view on the sides, but on the top and bottom also. My second reason for obtaining the wide angle lens is to obtain beautiful master shots of my daughter's events that I mention above. This lens package is very affordable and I highly recommend it to anyone with similar needs!
