decent optics - heavy vignetting

This 3x lens comes in a box labelled "VHS 3x telephoto lens". The packaging is 'retro'. Repurposed item, anyone? However, seeing as lens technology has advanced at a much slower pace than that of the microprocessor, I can still give this product a confidently good rating.The f-stop of this lens is neutral; it doesn't affect the relative amount of light for your camera. That's nice. It comes with a front and back cap. It comes with a healthy number of [listed] adapters, and the one for my camera (43mm) works fine.This lens give me some extreme vignetting. I mean, like old-school silent film vignetting. My camera is HD, widescreen. The silhouette casts a perfect circle in the middle of my image reaching from the top of the frame to the bottom when zoomed all the way out.However, when zoomed in, the neutral f-stop gives me GREAT clarity with 3x magnification. I could easily see myself shooting wildlife footage, or a person threatening to jump from a building. (while zoomed in of course). However, if the wild animal ran toward me, or the person jumped into the waiting net of the firefighters, I'd have to unscrew my lens, or pray the audience doesn't mind experiencing tunnel vision.
