By Stephen C. Gushue
This lens may well become one of the most legendary of the Limiteds manufactured by Pentax and perhaps even rival the output capabilities of the FA Limiteds. This lens is superiorly contructed of metal and solidly built in such a small package. Image resolution is superb, with excellent contrast, edge to edge sharpness, brilliant colors and beautiful color saturation. AF on the K20D is quite fast considering the lens is a macro with a long barrel throw and accurately focuses without FF/BF.This lens will find its versatily in close focusing as well as general 35mm FOV imaging (52.5mm on DSLR). The optical design makes for exceptional bokeh whether using it in macro mode or simply wide aperture general photography. The lens also makes a great copy lens for document copy of flat materials and printed matter. The lens comes with a built in lens hood that works well and will be of benefit in contra lighting situations. 1:1 macro imaging utilizing the onboard camera flash is not possible (well the image is compromised) due to its low angle. Shadows will be caused by the lens when used this way. However, somewhere between 1:1 and 1:2 the lens works well with the onboard flash. Shoe mounted flashes or off camera flashes do not present any problems with illumination at 1:1 magnification.I believe that time will show that this is one of the best lenses Pentax ever made. It is simply a pleasure to use and joy to see the output this is capable of.

By K. Lee
This lens is compact, well-constructed with a handy built-in retractible lens hood, and takes beautiful photos indoors and out. Being close to a full frame "normal" lens makes it suitable for all types of shooting, from scenery to portraits, and the fact that it also does amazing macro is truly a bonus. Granted, the working distance for macro is very short, and to get true 1:1, the subject will be mere millimeters from the front of the lens, but since I have no desire to photograph live bugs, this isn't really an issue. Macros of flowers are just lovely! All in all, this lens deserves its "limited" designation.

By Bill Nicholas
I used this lens extensively over the last month and found it to be an excellent everyday, all-purpose lens. I previous searched in vain for an upgrade to my K-X's kit standard zoom lens then decided to get a prime lens instead. This one gets excellent reviews from most users and it does deliver. Images are sharp, colors are perfect and bokeh usually very nice. There is a noticeable high quality to the images it produces. They are not at the stellar level my DA* 50-135 f2.8 ED produces (that lens has pixie dust all over it), but the 35mm does make the perfect companion for wider angle, walk around use. What this lens reminds me of is my old Olympus 50mm 1.8 I used exclusively for many years before digital. Looking back at that lens, which provided a similar focal length on film as the 35mm on digital, I realized I really didn't need a standard zoom; I worked a single length lens without complaint for years, producing some of the best photos I have ever done. This lens serves the same purpose and works just as well. I don't even think I will be using my standard zoom anymore.UPDATE 1/18/11 - A highly versatile lens. To my surprise, we went on a trip to NYC over Christmas and, even though I brought along a couple of other lens I thought I was going to use, I rarely took this one off my camera. Seemed like every time I thought of doing so, I said to myself, I really don't need to. The only time I changed lense was for a super wide angle going out to the Statue of Liberty and when on top of the Empire State building. Excellent photos all around.Update 5/2/11 - I just want to reiterate what I said on 1/18/11. Just got back from a trip up the coast to San Francisco and mostly only used this lens. Photos were excellent in daylight and, especially, low light conditions. Lens angle is perfect for distance and close up shots and it can really be creative due to its macro abilities. I accidentally left my camera bag at the hotel previous to San Francisco and I did not miss the other lenses a bit. This is a truly amazing and useful lens. If you are using the kit standard zoom that came with your camera, try this instead. You won't miss the zoom and you will see an significant increase in photo quality.
